Here are some of the common questions that we get.

Q: Is it like Paintball?

A: Yes it does play similar to paintball, however there are no projectiles and the guns have much longer range.

Q: What do the guns shoot?

A: The guns fire an infrared beam that is received by the sensors that all players wear on their heads.

Q: Are the beams dangerous to your eyes?

A: No. The beams are just infrared light like what a TV remote emits. They are completely harmless.

Q: Who can play? Is this more for military junkies?

A: Laser Skirmish has a very wide appeal. It's can be enjoyed be almost anybody. It's fun even if you're not into guns or video games. You can just come out with a few friends and have a blast. Unlike paintball there is no pain and with the red dot sights the guns are very easy to aim. It can be a great physical workout too. The more serious players tend to enjoy it on an even deeper level, focusing more on the tactics and teamwork of the sport.

Q: How old do you have to be in order to play?

A: The minimum age is 10. This is due mainly to the weight of the guns.

Q: What should I wear?

A: You probably want to wear something that you don't mind getting dirty. Close-toed shoes and long pants are required. Also you'll want to wear bug spray in the summer and warmer clothes in the winter.

Q: How do you know when you are dead?

A: All players wear sensors on their head which detect hits. When you're hit you hear a sound. Your gun shows how many hit points you have left. When you loose all of your hit points your gun displays "Your dead" on the screen and it won't shoot until you respawn or until the next game is started.

Q: How many hits can you take before you are dead?

A: We typically give all players 100% heath for each game. The guns do 14 points of damage each (except the snipers, they do 30 for each shot.) So you can usually take about 8 hits before you die. We can also run games with reduced health like 90% or 50% etc.

Q: How many lives do you get in each game?

A: We usually do unlimited respawns for most game types.

Q: What kind of game types do you run?

A: We run objective based game types that encourage teamwork like "Plant the bomb", "Sniper Hunt" , "King of the hill" etc.

Q: Where do you run the games?

A: Behind Crosspointe Church: 6911 Carpenter Fire Station Rd Cary, NC. Click here for more info.

Q: How often do you run games?

A: We have game sessions on most Saturdays. If you join our Meetup group you will be able to RSVP for any of our open game sessions. To view our calendar click here.

Q: Do you run games for private groups?

A: Yes we do run games for private groups. Click here for more details.

Q: How long do you play for?

A: On Saturdays we usually run one four hour session. That includes setup time and breaks so actual play time is about 3 hours.

Q: How much does it cost to play?

A: We charge $25 for a four hour session.

Q: So can I just show up and play?

A: We'd prefer that you not just show up to play as there is a limited number of guns and you will not be guaranteed a spot. The best option if you want to come out to play is to join our Meetup group. There you can view our calendar and RSVP for any of our open game sessions. You'll also be able to invite friends by just added them to your response on your RSVP.
